Thomas
J. Elton, M.D.Dr.
Thomas Elton was born and raised in Minnesota. He attended the College
of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota where he was engaged in campus life as
a residence hall advisor, received his Air Force commission through a ROTC
academic scholarship, and graduated Summa cum laude with a degree in
biology in 1986. He completed his medical degree at the Mayo Clinic in
Rochester, Minnesota graduating in 1990. After medical school, he completed
a three-year residency in Family Practice at David Grant Medical Center,
Travis Air Force Base, California. He has been Board Certified, and
maintained his certification, by the American Board of Family Practice
since 1993.
Dr. Elton served
the Air Force as a Family Physician stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base,
Alaska from 1993 through 2001. He was selected as Chief of Family Medicine
from 1999 through 2001 and separated from the Air Force as a Lieutenant
Colonel selectee. He has lived in Eagle River for over 14 years and been in
civilian group practice in Anchorage since 2001 and maintains current
hospital privileges at Providence Alaska Medical Center and Alaska Regional
Hospitals. He was selected as a member of the Medical Executive Committee
representing the Department of Family Medicine in 2007.
